Reducing CO2 Emissions with AdWinMethanol CC

In a carbon-constrained world, carbon capture and utilisation or storage (CCUS) installed on a methanol plant is a necessary and feasible solution. The new, patented AdWinMethanol CC technology, jointly developed by thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions AG and GasConTec GmbH, integrates carbon capture into large-scale, natural gas-fuelled methanol production to yield a drastically reduced carbon footprint.

CO   Emission Abatement

  • Public and legislatory pressure to reduce greenhouse gas is rising

  • Emission reduction policies being expected to be put in place soon in several (additional) countries

  • CO2 emission will be given a (negative) value

  • Large-scale methanol production plants are relevant point sources of industrial CO emissions

The patented technological concept is based on proven technologies

  • Based on our comprehensive knowledge and expertise, we together with our partner GasConTec have advanced our methanol technology in order to improve reliability, to reduce investment cost, and to minimize catalyst cost

  • AdWinMethanol® technology enables methanol production with considerable economic advantages, in particular at large scale capacities from 3,000 t/d up to 10,000 t/d in a single train

  • The basic concept is to process conventional and/or non conventional short-chain haydrocarbons into syngas via Catalytic Partial Oxidation (ATR) with a high feed stock flexibility...
